Humbert & Poyet: The Nocturnal Smoking Room
Humbert & Poyet design the Nocturnal Smoking room for the 'AD Intérieurs' exhibition on display during Maison et Objet.
Maison et Objet returns for its second instalment of the year, providing a platform for the World's finest designers to showcase exciting projects and the latest in design. A flagship exhibition for the show, 'AD Intérieurs' celebrates the highest levels of luxury interior design, with the editors of Architectural Digest working with fifteen highly celebrated studios to take part in its presentation on display in Paris.
Architectural studio Humbert & Poyet have collaborated with some of the finest craftspeople and makers in the trade to showcase an impressive living space titled 'The Nocturnal Smoking Room', exhibiting the studio's renowned style and remarkable attention to detail. With a restricted colour palette of rich hues and structured lines, Emil Humbert and Christophe Poyet have created a dark and intimate smoking room in the spirit of Neo Art Deco. The design pays homage to exquisite Parisian nights through timeless muses such as Marie-Laure de Noailles, collector and patron of the 20s and 30s.
The centrepiece to the interior is a bespoke sculptural bar, its abstract presence created by the unsymmetrical stacking of lacquered shelving and display cubes. Each layer haw a dedicated function that adds an essence of curiosity and glamour to the room. The duo also designed a marble chaise lounge, a beautiful play with materials as the hard marble elegantly moulds to the curvature of the soft upholstery. The use of contrasting elements continues through into the plush lounge chairs as they encircle the blue circular coffee table, its smooth surfaces reflecting the textures and patterns of the surrounding interior. The slatted white decorative ceiling and its modernist accents provide a mesmerising escape as one enjoys a cigarette and cocktail, eyes drawn up towards a lighter, contrasting space, intersected by a singular mirrored stripe.

To create such a remarkable setting and to attain the desired finish, Humbert & Poyet collaborates with world-renowned creators, experts in their field to produce the highest quality designs for the show. Pouenat for the metal work, Baccarat for the crystal, Pierre Frey for the fabrics, Codimat the carpet, Atelier Tollis for the staff, Martin Berger for the wall décor and the White Cube Gallery for the artwork. Every designer used adds another luxurious layer to Humbert & Poyet's grand vision, creating an interior that merges the worlds of art, luxury and functionality.
The AD Intérieurs exhibition is on display until 23rd September 2018 at Compagnie Des Philanthropes, 15, rue de la Bûcherie in Paris.
