Hermès: Looking for lightness - Milan Design Week 2022

Luxury fashion house Hermès erects four large ‘lantern-like’ structures modelled on water towers to house its collection of homewares at La Pelota during Milan Design Week.

Luxury fashion house Hermès erects four large ‘lantern-like’ structures modelled on water towers to house its latest collection of homeware designs. Visitors are invited to walk through these sculptural spaces crafted from ash wood and paper to experience the products, beautifully displayed on stacks of paper pulp and from wooden rails; a simple yet effective presentation.

“The objects, porcelain, and furniture assert their uniqueness. A sheet of leather, cut, folded and hand-painted, becomes a table centrepiece; porcelain plates reflect the sun’s rays, and a canework seat makes a chair as graceful as it is robust.
Find the right balance between material and colour. Seek lightness in the design of the object. Capture the essence of the material and enrich it with the work of an innovative hand. Thus the lightness of lines and style can transcend time.”

The installation is open to the public and runs from Wednesday, June 8 to Sunday, June 12, 2022. Visit the Hermès website for additional information and up-to-date opening times.
